"A proper gent of knowledge and warmth. You'll be
missed, Mike"

“Knowing Mike for the last 10 years enriched my life
greatly. He took the time to teach me the fundamentals of meteorology,
answering the smallest question with the greatest detail, as well as even
review and mark my first university essay on corporate finance(!). A truly
humble, humorous, intelligent and loving man. He will be sorely missed
by many and I feel very lucky to have known him.”

"Mike
Tullett, a gentleman and a scholar. Someone I had great time and respect
for. I corresponded with him through newsgroups and e-mail and he was
the kind of guy that you just wanted to meet in person knowing you'd enjoy
his company. Sadly I will never have that opportunity now although we
had discussed meeting up. A regret that will haunt me. I was devastated
to hear of his passing on June 17th following an illness I had hoped he
was recovering from. There are times when life is just not fair and I
feel in Mike's case this was most certainly so. He lost Wendy before her
time and then having found Liz, a loving partner, his time with her was
short. Mike left behind fantastic memories, shared knowledge and above
all a family that can be proud of someone who touched so many.
Mike,
I will miss you and thank you for giving me the opportunity to know you."

"Mike was a respected and knowledgeable poster to
uk.sci.weather, and
will be greatly missed."

"I first made contact with Mike a few years back through
our common enthusiasm for the winter of 1963. He was a wealth of knowledge
on this and freely sent me his wonderful charts and other info for the
period. I never met him personally but his warmth and friendliness shone
through his posts on UKSW. Despite all of the varied and sometimes flawed
characters on there he always had the ability to never patronise or insult
anybody, only to help with his extensive meteorological insight. He was
a massive moderating influence on the Group and will be desperately missed
by me and everybody else."

"I didn't meet Mike, but his sensible
& measured contributions to the
newsgroup were, in my view, part of the reason why - allowing for the
occasional wobble - it still fulfils a useful and entertaining part of
my
life, and I suspect of many others, whether active contributors or
'lurkers'.
His
analysis of the 1962/63 winter in particular is a fitting memorial to
a
fine man. As I wrote on the day we heard the news, the world became a
little
less bright on that otherwise sunny day - Thanks Mike."

"I only knew Mike on the newsgroup, and he was an
example for others to
follow. I shall miss his advice and comments - he is a sad loss to USW."

"I never
met Mike but exchanged e-mails with him over the years. Initially
these were weather related but more recently had diversified to include
a
variety of topics including Edinburgh, Northern Ireland, teaching and
family
history. Whatever the topic the answers were prompt, well considered,
interesting and relevant. Nothing was too much for Mike and I quickly
realised that I was dealing with a real gentleman. His contributions to
the
uk.sci.weather group were also of the highest standard and will be greatly
missed."
